Barkman Financial Group was not built to be a company. It was built because families deserve honest guidance — and because the people who founded it had seen firsthand what happens when they don’t get it.
Barkman Financial Group is an independent insurance holding company based in Phoenix, Arizona. We are not a captive agency. We are not tied to any single carrier, quota, or product line. We exist to help families, retirees, and businesses find the right coverage — and we define right by the client’s needs, not by what pays us the most.
Through five specialized divisions, we serve individuals and businesses across more than twenty states. Each division operates with focused expertise and its own dedicated team. All five are held to the same non-negotiable standard.
We shop our carrier network and recommend what genuinely fits — even when that means the simplest, least expensive option on the table. Our only obligation is to the people we serve.
I did not build Barkman Financial Group to have a company. I built it because I spent years as an EMT, as a caregiver, as a university counselor — sitting with people at the hardest moments of their lives. I have held the hands of people who had nothing. I have watched families scramble to cover funeral costs for someone they loved because nobody had planned ahead.
That is why this company exists. Not to sell policies. To protect families. Those are not the same thing, and most people in this industry have forgotten the difference.
If a policy is not right for someone, we do not sell it. If it comes down to a commission or a client’s financial security, there is no decision to make. We build this business on what happens after the policy is placed — on whether the people we worked with are genuinely better protected. That is the only measure of success I care about.
Even when it costs us. If a policy is not right for a client, we say so and walk away. Our reputation is built on what happens after the sale — not on the sale itself.
Because we work with multiple carriers, we compare objectively and advocate genuinely. No quota, no preferred carrier influences a recommendation.
Before we mention a single product, we understand the person — their family, their finances, their goals. The people we serve are not policy numbers.
If we say we will call someone back, we call them back. Annual reviews, claim questions, coverage changes — our relationship continues long after enrollment.
A conversation costs nothing. Twenty minutes is all it takes to know exactly where you stand.
